 “One of the most preeminent and most original, artists of the first half of the 20th century”. Born in Victoria, BC in 1871, she was heavily inspired by the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest coast. She was also welcomed by the Group of Seven after meeting Lawren Harris in 1927. Emily later won a Governor General’s Award as a non-fiction writer.
